How Manchester United fair heading into final Europa League match

Manchester United saw out a 3-0 win against FC Sheriff at Old Trafford and have only one game remaining of their Europa League group stage campaign.

If the Red Devils want to finish top of Group E and avoid the play-off stage, they must beat Real Sociedad by two or more goals.

The clash will take place on Thursday, November 3 at the Estadio Anoeta, meaning the Reds will be without their faithful Old Trafford supporters.

The away support always provides the momentum though and will likely be as loud as ever to back the team in the must-win clash.

In the reverse fixture, Sociedad saw out a 1-0 win in Manchester in a frustrating night for United.

Topping group is crucial for Manchester United

If United finish second they will be forced to compete in the Round of 16 playoff, in which they may face a team demoted from the Champions League group stage, to ensure qualification for the next stage of the tournament.

Several European giants have dropped to the Europa League including Barcelona, Juventus and Atletico Madrid. Erik ten Hag will be keen to get the business done next week and avoid any added fixtures in to the team’s already hectic schedule.
