Manchester United youngster Facundo Pellistri is one of several players hoping to make an impact this season after spending two seasons on loan at Alaves in Spain.
Pellistri joined United in 2020 but is yet to make his official debut for the club but that could be about to change. Pellistri impressed during pre-season and is a permanent fixture in the senior Uruguay squad.
Earlier this week, Erik ten Hag challenged Pellistri to leave his mark at United and now, the young winger has responded to that, admitting that he’s relaxed ahead of his potential debut.
“I’m very happy to be back here again,” Pellistri is quoted as saying by the official Manchester United website. “I’m training hard on a daily basis and enjoying everything about life here at this great club, Manchester United. I’m hoping for the chance to be able to get some game-time under my belt. So all this makes me very pleased.
“Well, I’m quite calm and relaxed about it [making my debut]. As you said, I’ve played in a lot of pre-season and friendly games for the club but I’m still to make my debut, for a number of different reasons really.
“I’ve also been out on loan a lot but, this time, I’ve stayed put and so I’m searching for my opportunity, but I’m pretty chilled as I wait for that moment to come around.”
Pellistri will be itching to play for the senior side for the first time and that opportunity could come sooner rather than later. United welcome FC Sheriff to Old Trafford later on Thursday and with Ten Hag’s men fairly secure in the group, the Dutchman could opt to rotate his side.

Pellistri has been tipped to enjoy a promising career but for whatever reason, it just hasn’t happened yet at United. Ten Hag has always been keen to give youngsters the chance, however, and that is good news for Pellistri.
His constant inclusion in the Uruguay squad means that he’s highly rated at home as well and despite not making his debut for the Reds, he’s likely to make Uruguay’s World Cup squad.
