Manchester United tempted by striker market in South America

Every man and his dog knows Manchester United need to sign a centre-forward. Whether it’s in January or next summer, it needs to happen and the player in question needs to have top potential at the very least.

We have seen United sign lots of experienced forwards in recent years and it feels like that has just been a way to ignore the need for a top goalscorer.

From Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Odion Ighalo, surely now is the time to sign a striker to reach his prime years at Old Trafford?

Sky Sport reporter Florian Plettenberg reports United are in the market for a talented striker, with the market in South America proving appetizing to the Premier League giants.

Why wouldn’t it? I know Erling Haaland is taking all the headlines over at Manchester City, but they conducted a shrewd bit of business last January when they completed the signing of Julian Alvarez from River Plate.

This means it’s time for us to pay closer attention to the goalscorers that exist across Brazil and Argentina. Benfica have been doing it for years to make profit.

Now it sounds like United are actively in the South American market which should mean more scouting trips.

What strikers could interest United in South America?

Endrick from Palmeiras?

He is of Brazil’s best prospects at just 16.

You would hope that Manchester United are already aware of the young forward, whose skills are being likened to Romario and Ronaldinho.

Recent reports suggest United have already registered an interest in Endrick.

Journalist Caio Carrieri tweeted: Information: Manchester United intensifies Endrick’s observation. Guidance at the club is to scout in Brazil to go to the largest number of Palmeiras games and evaluate, in loco, the boy’s development. United observer has already been in the promise’s debut, against Coritiba.”
