Jonathan David among Manchester United 3-man list of potential Ronaldo replacements

Cristiano Ronaldo is still dominating the headlines over his future and reports suggest Manchester United are in the market for a more traditional no.9.

The Athletic claim Erik ten Hag would like to keep Ronaldo until the end of the season; therefore, it would give Manchester United more time to identify the ideal replacement.

That solely depends on whether Ronaldo, 37, can accept his new reduced role in the squad.

The Mirror believe Ten Hag has three centre-forwards on his list of potential replacements for Ronaldo, should be the Portuguese striker leave Old Trafford midway through the season.

Lille striker Jonathan David is one. Chelsea have also been linked with the Canadian forward after seeing him replace fellow United target Victor Osimhen.

The 22-year-old is not a typical number nine that boasts incredible aerial presence, but he likes to dribble at defenders and can be considered a fox in the box. He scored 19 goals from 48 appearances for Lille last season and has started this term well with nine goals and three assists from just 12 games.

The list also includes Bayern Leverkusen front man Patrik Schick. With 24 Bundesliga goals to his name last term, you can tell why Ten Hag is keeping an eye on the Czech international.

Finally, we are being linked with Moussa Dembele – who I can recall being a target during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s time as manager.

It goes without saying that the French striker is still waiting on his big career move.

  1. Try Mbape. This time we need a striker who is young and ruthless at the goal.we could have beaten Chelsea if we had one.
