Manchester United are aiming to get back to winning ways this week following their disappointing 0-0 draw with Newcastle over the weekend.
Erik ten Hag’s men failed to find a way past the resilient visitors at Old Trafford but there is hardly any time to reflect on the mishap, with Tottenham making the trip to Manchester on Wednesday.
Antonio Conte’s side are in fine form going into the game and currently sit just four points off the summit of the Premier League, winning their last two games.
There are a number of selection headaches Ten Hag will need to deal with before the game, however, with a couple of key players doubtful due to injuries.
Christian Eriksen missed the draw with Newcastle due to illness but after the game, the manager insisted he was hopeful that Eriksen would be available for this game against his former side.
Marcus Rashford was also ill over the weekend and did not start against Newcastle as a result. He did, however, feature for the last 20 minutes and will most likely be drafted back in against Spurs.
It will be interesting to see what Ten Hag does with Cristiano Ronaldo. The 37-year-old was the only player to be substituted in the 0-0 draw and Ten Hag admitted that the decision was made in a bid to keep his strikers fresh.
It was Ronaldo’s second start in the league and there is very little to suggest that he will be in Ten Hag’s plans for long – it’s even more unlikely that he starts in a big game like this.
Scott McTominay is back from suspension and Casemiro’s four-game starting streak could come to an end. If Eriksen misses out, the pair could start together for the first time.
Predicted Manchester United line-up (4-2-3-1): De Gea; Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Shaw; McTominay, Eriksen; Antony, Fernandes, Sancho; Rashford
