Manchester United players send messages of support to Marcos Rojo after serious injury

Former Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo has suffered a serious knee injury and is expected to miss seven to eight months of action.

The Argentinian departed Manchester for Boca Juniors in 2021 after spending seven years at the club.

Several of his former teammates have sent messages of support to the 32-year-old after he confirmed the extent of his injury to fans via social media.

Rojo sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury when facing Sarmiento in early October, which is the same injury he suffered the same injury in 2017 as a United player. The centre-back will undergo surgery on his journey to recovery and is scheduled to have an operation next week.

When addressing the unfortunate incident, Rojo said: “It’s going to be seven or eight months at least. I’m going to take it slowly so I come back in the best shape. On Monday I’ll have the op and then I’ll start thinking about my recovery.

It’s not the first time (nor will it be the last) that I have to get back up after suffering a hard knock.

“It’s hard and it’s going to be difficult and I’ll need to think about it the least I can.”

David de Gea responded: “I love you buddy!” whilst Eric Bailly said: “I love you brother a lot of encouragement my captain.”

Former Reds, such as Juan Mata, Ander Herrera and Sergio Romero, also left messages of strength to their ex-teammate.

Hopefully a speedy recovery for the Argentinian, who was admired by United fans during his time at the club for his dedication and ruthlessness on the pitch.
