Sparta Prague manager Brian Priske has been impressed by Manchester United loanee Matej Kovar since the goalkeeper signed on a season-long loan.
The 22-year-old joined United in 2018 and the club will be hoping he can develop his game further with regular first team football at the Czech heavyweights. This should be a step up from his previous loan spells at Swindon Town and Burton Albion.
Hopefully he can reap the benefits of playing matches every week.
Kovar signed a new contract prior to his loan move and he looks set to be United player until 2025 at least.
However, three weeks after making his debut for Sparta Prague, Priske has spoken about how he has been impressed by the young keeper.
“I was glad when the opportunity arose to get [Kovar],” said Priske, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News. “We have also created new competition among our goalkeepers. He shows exactly what we expected from him. He is a tall young goalkeeper and his performance today was very good.
“At the same time, I’m glad he finally got a win. He made a number of excellent saves and has a big part to play in the victory. Although he behaved differently than usual in several situations in the first half, he is the future of Czech football.”
Kovar will dream of becoming the future number one at Manchester United and the Czech Republic.
Ten Hag brought the youngster on pre-season tour and he was named on the bench in United’s 1-0 win at Leicester City.
