Erik ten Hag has experienced another heavy defeat in charge of Manchester United, with his first taste of the derby ending in a horrible 6-3 defeat away from home. The mishap comes not long after his side suffered another embarrassing defeat at Brentford.
United are lucky to come out of the game with that scoreline but ahead of kick-off, optimism was high, especially after four straight wins in the league, which included promising performances against Liverpool and Arsenal.
Ten Hag’s men capitulated and speaking to Football Daily after the game, the Dutchman has admitted that he was ‘surprised’, putting the mishap down to a lack of belief.
🗣️ “Lack of belief. I am surprised.”

SN’s verdict…
It can’t be forgotten that we are still only seven games into Erik ten Hag’s reign at United but the game against City drew some scary comparisons to the 4-0 defeat at Brentford in August.
United went into the half-time break 4-0 down in both games and the body language was similar. Players weren’t pulling in the same direction.
The odd aspect to this is that in the last four games, United have looked like a cohesive unit, with all of them fighting to achieve the same goals. That all went out the window this time.
