Manchester United have experienced yet another difficult afternoon at the Etihad Stadium, with the hosts scoring a whopping six goals against Erik ten Hag’s men.
United started the game on the back foot and City immediately controlled proceedings, opening the scoring with just seven minutes on the clock.
From there, it was all City and they went into half-time with a 4-0 lead. United were bewildered. There were slight improvements after the interval but much of that was down to City taking their foot off the gas.
Antony pulled a goal back with a spectacular effort but City scored twice to make it 6-1. Anthony Martial, who had only made one league appearance prior to this game, made his return to the team and scored twice to make sure United only lost the game by a three-goal deficit.
The first goal, as seen below, was an opportunist striker goal as he was first to react as Ederson parried Fred’s effort. The second strike came just minutes after when he won a penalty.

Martial’s penalty meant it ended 6-1 and in truth, that was flattering for United. City deserved to win the game by a bigger margin and Ten Hag will be thankful that his goal difference is not completely beyond saving.
