Preview: Manchester City vs Manchester United

Manchester United will be looking to move back into the top four places when they take on Manchester City in the Premier League at the Etihad on Sunday.

The Reds go into the game on the back of a 2-0 victory over FC Sheriff in the Europa League prior to the international break, whilst the hosts ran out 3-0 winners over Wolves in the Premier League.

Harry Maguire has been ruled out of the derby having suffered an injury during England’s 3-3 draw with Germany on Monday night, however, Marcus Rashford could feature against City having returned to first team training this week.

After a disastrous start to the new campaign, it’s been a positive past month or so for the Red Devils. A run of victories in the Premier League combined with victory away in Europe has lifted the mood at Old Trafford and, in doing so, got United’s season back on track.

After back-to-back defeats to Brighton and Brentford you feared the worst, but to see United respond in the way we have done has been refreshing and you get the feeling that Ten Hag’s tactical methods are finally starting to now rub off on the players.

That said, in facing City on Sunday it without will without doubt present Ten Hag’s toughest test he has faced so far as the new United boss.

City have started the new season in typical fashion winning five from their opening seven league games and sit just one point off the top of the Premier League table and with Erling Haaland in fine goal scoring form will take some stopping.

United have a fairly decent record at the Etihad over recent years and with Ten Hag now finding his feet I am confident we can get a result here. The Reds certainly have enough firepower up top in Ronaldo, Fernandes, Sancho and co to cause City problems and if turn up and play like we did against Liverpool then we stand every chance of beating City and leaving the Etihad with all three points.

Prediction: Manchester City 2-3 Manchester United
