Erik ten Hag has provided an update on his squad ahead of Sunday’s Manchester derby.
Harry Maguire has been ruled out after sustaining an injury whilst away with England on international. The centre-back was spotted limping after the 3-3 draw with Germany in the UEFA Nations League.
In better news, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford are back in training, with a decision yet to be made around them starting against City.
Martial has missed a lot of the season after impressing under Ten Hag during the summer. It will be a huge boost to have him back fit and everyone will be hoping Rashford builds on the form he showed prior to the international break.
“Anthony Martial [has] been training with the group all week, really happy with that situation,” Ten Hag told reporters, as per the Manchester Evening News. “Marcus Rashford also joined training, so we are happy with that.”
Meanwhile, Axel Tuanzebe and Brandon Williamns remain long-term absentees.
Stretty News verdict
The biggest plus from this is Ten Hag won’t have any limitations when it comes to who he can start up front. I don’t think Cristiano Ronaldo should start this one because that will only make it more difficult to break through City’s press.
Martial brings energy to the table and the same can be said for Rashford, who was named the Premier League’s September Player of the Month.
