(Video) Cristiano Ronaldo opens Man Utd account for the season with penalty goal

Manchester United are cruising against FC Sheriff in the Europa League as they aim to bounce back from their surprising defeat to Real Sociedad last week.

Erik ten Hag named a strong side for the game against Sheriff – such was the determination to travel back home with all three points and they’re well on their way to doing so.

Jadon Sancho opened the scoring in the first half with a sublime strike, feinting past one defender before slotting the ball into the bottom corner.

United continued to dominate the game and shortly after, Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first goal of the season when he converted a penalty won by Diogo Dalot.

Ten Hag took no chances with his team selection and he will feel vindicated after more or less doing enough to win the game within 45 minutes.

For Ronaldo, that strike will mean a lot. He has started just one of six Premier League games and last week’s game against Real Sociedad was a bad one.

Ronaldo’s goal is also his first in the Europa League after making his debut last week. He is now one goal away from scoring his 700th at club level – he will fancy his chances of scoring another after the interval.
