Sheriff Tiraspol are aiming for an upset in the Europa League tonight.
The Moldovan champions beat Real Madrid in the group stages of last year’s Champions League and they’ve started this Europa League campaign with a convincing 3-0 win over Omonia.
At the forefront of it all is winger Rasheed Akanbi, who is renowned as one of Sheriff’s most dangerous players. He says he is looking forward to facing Harry Maguire even though the England centre-back could feature on the bench from the start.
Erik ten Hag has no game to worry about for a month after this one, so he is likely to name a full strength team to pick up from last week’s 1-0 defeat in the Europa League.
Speaking at a press conference, the 23-year-old told reporters he was excited to play against United by naming some of the biggest names at the club.
“I want to play against Antony, Ronaldo, Rashford,” Akanbi said, as quoted by All Nigeria Socccer.
“I am looking forward to playing against them, especially Maguire.
“The game against Manchester United is good for us. It’s good for FC Sheriff that we have tough opponents like this and are going to do our best because I always believe in everybody.
“I believe in my team, I believe in my coach’s tactics.”
