Jude Bellingham dismisses ‘disrespectful’ transfer speculation amid Manchester United links

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham says it would be “disrespectful” to talk about a transfer away from his present club while he is under contract, amid links to Manchester United.

The media claims Manchester United and Liverpool are set to battle it out for the signature of Bellingham.

To Bellingham’s credit though, I don’t think the player is doing his part to make a saga out of his contract, but it is the start of the season, and it would be silly to do so when the transfer window isn’t open.

Some footballers don’t care about that as we saw with Paul Pogba down the years.

Speaking ahead of his side’s game against Manchester City in the Champions League tonight, the England midfielder said (via Manchester Evening News): “The club has done loads for me, made me feel very welcome and given me the opportunities to develop further. To look past that that into the future would be disrespectful.”

A lot can change over a year.

Every outlet said Declan Rice was a primary target until Ten Hag was announced. Then it became Frenkie de Jong, who is a completely different type of midfielder.

Bellingham is a brilliant player, but he is still raw. This will be a big season for the Dortmund star.
