Charlie McNeill honoured to make Manchester United debut

Manchester United striker Charlie McNeill has reacted to his senior debut with a post on social media.

The FA Youth Cup winner had the honour of making his debut as a late substitute for Tyrell Malacia in our Europa League opener against Real Sociedad, which sadly ended in a 1-0 defeat.

Although the result didn’t go our way, it’s always great to see academy players come through the ranks and make their debuts, so it was still a proud moment for McNeill – a local lad who has grown up supporting the Reds.

Can you just imagine being in his shoes?

“An honour to make my professional debut for Manchester United,” the centre-forward wrote on Instagram. “I’ve grown up supporting this club and worked for over 10 years to make this dream a reality.

“Too many people to name who have helped me in so many different ways. Thanks to the Academy staff and coaches for everything they have done to support my development.

“Last night would not have been possible without my family and friends, who have always been there for me.

“Lots more work to come to earn more moments like this.”
