Everton are leading the race for James Garner’s signature.
Despite signing Amadou Onana this summer, Frank Lampard wants to add another midfielder to his squad at Goodison Park, and it sounds like Garner is high on the priority list.
Garner stands little chance of breaking into the United first team, so a move away from Old Trafford has been tipped for a couple of weeks.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claims Everton are winning the race to sign Garner and feel that an agreement with United is close.
The young midfielder will leave on a permanent deal after attracting interest from three other bidding clubs.

With all the money Nottingham Forest spent this summer, it’s a surprise they didn’t move for Garner earlier this summer since he impressed whilst on loan twice in the past two years.
Most fans felt Garner should be either given a chance this season or sent out on loan, but maybe Erik ten Hag doesn’t think he has what it takes – and prefers fellow academy products Zidane Iqbal and Charlie Savage. The Dutchman may believe that those players have more potential.
