(Video) Eddie Howe comments on ‘sad’ Martin Dubravka departure ahead of Man Utd move

Manchester United could complete their fifth and sixth signings of the summer this week, with moves for Ajax winger Anthony and Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka advancing.

Antony has undergone a medical this week and is expected to be announced by the club imminently, whilst it has been reported that a medical has also been scheduled for Dubravka.

Dubravka was left out of Newcastle’s trip to Wolves over the weekend and now, manager Eddie Howe has commented on speculation surrounding the 33-year-old, admitting that a potential departure would make him ‘sad’.

“I think discussions have taken place between the clubs,” Howe told Sky Sports, as seen above. “I don’t think anything is concluded as I sit here now.

“From my perspective, I’m sad if Martin does leave, sad to see him go. It’s certainly not something we necessarily wanted as a football club but we understand there are always two sides to every story.”

Dubravka is expected to provide competition for David de Gea between the goalposts following Dean Henderson’s loan move to Nottingham Forest earlier this summer.

Dubravka has been of interest to United in the past, with the goalkeeper linked with a move to Old Trafford in the most recent January window as well.

Erik ten Hag has been keen to add bodies to his goalkeeping departure after Lee Grant also departed the club and it looks like he’s got his man.
