Manchester United are set for a busy end to this summer’s transfer window, with moves for Antony and Martin Dubravka yet to be finalised ahead of Thursday night’s deadline.
Several outgoings are also expected this week – exciting midfielder Hannibal Mejbri joined Championship club Birmingham on Monday.
Now, it’s being claimed that United remain in talks with Birmingham over another player. As per leading transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the two clubs are in ‘advanced talks’ over winger Tahith Chong.

Furthermore, it’s claimed that Chong could possibly join Birmingham on a permanent transfer rather than another loan, having spent the start of last season there.
A serious injury cut that loan spell short and now, it’s looking unlikely that he will be able to break into the first team under Erik ten Hag despite featuring regularly over pre-season.
SN’s verdict…
It looked like United had pulled off quite the coup when Chong signed a new contract in 2020 after interest from Inter Milan but since then, Chong has struggled to make his mark.
United are making big-money signings in his position and with his current deal winding down, it’s hard to see an immediate future at Old Trafford.
A step down in the pyramid may also be good for his development. He also struggled on loans at Werder Bremen and Club Brugge recently.
