Antony arrives in England ahead of Manchester United medical

Antony has arrived in Manchester ahead of his transfer to Manchester United.

The Brazilian winger will undergo a medical tonight, according to Fabrizio Romano, who broke the news that Antony has just arrived in England.

Romano tweeted: “Antony has just landed in England right now — set to undergo medical tests as Man Utd player tonight.”

Manchester United are very close to officially announcing Antony as their fifth signing of the summer, after agreeing a transfer fee with Ajax for the 22-year-old.

United are understood to have agreed to pay a fixed fee of €95 million with a further €5 million in potential add-ons. It’s a hefty fee but we were always going to fork out having paid a premium for Ajax’s best defender Lisandro Martinez.

Antony is a welcome addition on the wing

That means Antony is set to become Erik ten Hag’s second signing from his former club.

Reports suggest United have a big offer rejected from Ajax last week.

The Eredivsie side negotiated strongly with the Reds throughout the summer to make huge profit on both sales, but we can be happy with the two new recruits.

Martinez has already provided a much needed edge to our defence, while Antony has a lot of trickery in his locker. It’s an exciting signing and it could see Jadon Sancho move to his preferred left flank.

  1. Anthony will be a good addition to the team. But United needs to sign Cody Gakpo as well, because of injury concerns for a number of positions.
