Ten Hag confirms Martial is back training but Lindelof ruled out for Liverpool meeting

Erik ten Hag has confirmed Antony Martial is back in training and could face Liverpool on Monday night. The France international missed the first two games of the season with an injury he suffered during pre-season.

The new manager told the official club website that Martial is back training with the squad, which means it shouldn’t be long before we see him back on the pitch. It was reported by The Athletic on Monday that he was back training with his team-mates.

That is great news because Martial led the line brilliantly on tour and his presence appeared to help Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford.

Ten Hag explained that Victor Lindelof is still out with injury, but he was never likely to be involved in this one. Footage prior to the press conference showed the United players doing some light running and Raphael Varane was amongst the group. It will be interesting to see if he starts against Liverpool.

“Victor has not returned to the training pitch but the good news is that Anthony Martial is back in training with the team,” Ten Hag said, as quoted by MUTV.

After scoring three goals in pre-season, we’ll be hoping Martial can get back amongst the goals immediately.

Especially after losing our first two games of the season!
