Real Madrid star Casemiro agrees personal terms with Manchester United

Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro has agreed personal terms with Manchester United.

Reports in Spain suggest the Brazilian midfielder could have his medical on Friday after discussions progressed between the two clubs.

According to the Manchester Evening News, United want Casemiro available for the game against Liverpool on Monday night, but that idea is remote because he needs to obtain a work permit.

Samuel Luckhurst suggests Carlo Ancelloti has accepted that he could lose the 30-year-old this summer, writing: “Sources say Real coach Carlo Ancelotti is ‘not fussed’ about losing Casemiro, a five-times Champions League winner with Real.”

Of course, Real Madrid already have French duo Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni to break into the team, while Luka Modric and Toni Kroos continue to pull the strings in the middle of the pitch.

This is a very different to targeting Frenkie de Jong and shows that in recent weeks, Erik ten Hag has accepted that United need a defensive midfielder to bring some much-needed steel to the team.

I’m convinced Nemanja Matic would have started the first two games of the season had he not been let go. The Serb should have been replaced a lot earlier this summer.
