Casemiro set for Manchester United medical on Friday

Erik ten Hag might be about to add Real Madrid star Casemiro to his Manchester United midfield.

A variety of reports suggest the Brazil international is keen on a move to Manchester United, with the Premier League giants turning to the 30-year-old after spending all summer chasing Frenkie de Jong.

I’m not trying to knock Casemiro. He’s one of the best midfielders in the world and he’s rarely injured, which is something we need to be looking at after seeing Raphael Varane struggle to stay fit since joining from Madrid a year ago.

Last season, Casemiro was a key figure in Real Madrid’s double-winning side last season as he collected his fifth Champions League medal and his third La Liga title.

El Chiringuito’s Marcos Benito believes Casemiro will travel to England next week ahead of a transfer to United, meaning we might acquire a bit of steel to our midfield. It’s been needed for years.

However, Spanish newspaper Marca claim the Real Madrid no.14 could have his medical at United tomorrow!

The report states the player has accepted Old Trafford as his next destination, adding: “Casemiro will undergo a medical with Manchester United tomorrow.”

Furthermore, respected Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano says United are positive about getting a deal done by Friday, with football director John Murtough on the case.

I hope Murtough can convince at least one top midfielder to join the club this summer after failing thus far to land De Jong, who, let’s not forget, was Ten Hag’s primary target.
