Atletico Madrid winger under consideration as Ten Hag pushes United to strengthen attack

Yannick Carrasco has become a last-ditch option for Manchester United as Erik ten Hag continues to push the recruitment team to strengthen his team’s attack.

Why does it feel like every summer Manchester United are running around the transfer market desperately seeking alternative options?

Ultimately, it all boils down to the Glazer family and recruitment team for being utterly incompetent because I’m sure Erik ten Hag was promised more when he took the job this summer. I can’t see why he would have accepted their offer based on what we’ve seen since the target market opened.

Ten Hag has no other choice but to push for more signings.

However, the news that Ajax turned down an €80 million bid for Antony, The Telegraph claims Atletico Madrid winger Carrasco is now being considered as a target by United.

It is believed that the Belgium international, who previously left Atleti to play in China, is allowed to leave again for £25.5m which is far less than what we offered for Antony.

No matter how we try to gloss this up, I don’t believe for one second that Carrasco was on the list of targets at the beginning of the summer. It’s some drop from targeting Antony or Cody Gakpo.

Still, Carrasco has the speed and directness to be a hit in the Premier League and Ten Hag needs to spend his transfer kitty wisely.
