Man Utd in talks over Aaron Wan-Bissaka exit in potential £40m loss

Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s three-year stay at Manchester United started off well but gradually stagnated as the team followed suit under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Norwegian made the 24-year-old one of his first signings after becoming the manager of United in 2019 but three years down the line, he is on the periphery under Erik ten Hag.

Thus far, Diogo Dalot has been preferred at right-back and Wan-Bissaka is yet to make a competitive appearance and failed to start any of United’s six pre-season fixtures.

Now, it has been revealed that United are in talks with Crystal Palace over Wan-Bissaka’s sale, with the defender potentially rejoining his former club.

That’s according to the Evening Standard, who say that preliminary talks have been held over the player’s sale. As per the report, any fee to seal Wan-Bissaka’s return to Selhurst park would be considerably less than the £50m United paid three years ago.

Instead, a potential £10m deal has been suggested – should that come to fruition, United would record a whopping £40m loss on the player.

It’s also reported that United could consider a loan in the hope of Wan-Bissaka raising his value over the next 12 months.

SN’s verdict…
The news of Wan-Bissaka’s potential return to Crystal Palace comes after Fabrizio Romano claimed that United had been offered the chance to sign Borussia Dortmund star Thomas Meunier. Any deal to sign the Belgian would, however, depend on Wan-Bissaka’s future.

Should United record an astounding £40m loss on Wan-Bissaka, it would simply epitomise the club’s embarrassing record in the transfer market over the last decade.

The idea was clear three years ago: develop one of the best defensive right-backs into an attacking force but unfortunately, it hasn’t worked out like that and it seems like United are ready to cut their losses.

  1. You can’t polish a turd unfortunately as the saying goes.

He seems like a decent guy. But is nowhere near the required level. Technically is rubbish and a fair reflection on ole’s judgement in general. Cancelo was a similar amount in fact AWB is one of the most expensive defenders in the history of the game. No wonder the club is in crisis.

I would also add hes crap defender. Constantly out of position.
