Manchester United U21s took on Crystal Palace at Leigh Sports Village tonight as Charlie Savage scored our only goal in a heavy 5-1 defeat.
Charlie Savage, who got a taste of regular senior football on pre-season tour, started the game in midfield. The 19-year-old did his best to lead by example on the pitch, but it wasn’t enough as the young side struggled against Palace.
The game was only going one way heading into extra time, although Savage gave the Red Devils a lifeline with just minutes left in the first half.
Mateo Mejia got the ball on the edge of the box and found Savage, who had made a long run before tucking the ball into the left corner.

Savage continued to work tirelessly in midfield, and he will be disappointed with the result.
Let us know in the comments section if you think Savage will get minutes in the first team under Erik ten Hag this season.
