Manchester United miss out on Slovenian striker as RB Leipzig close in on deal

It sounds like Manchester United have either passed on the opportunity to sign Benjamin Sesko or RB Leipzig have beaten us in the race to sign the 19-year-old goalscorer.

The Slovenia international emerged as a United target recently in their hunt for a new striker, with Cristiano Ronaldo’s future still up in the air.

Sesko is a young player seen with high potential, but there is no guarantee he would be a regular starter at United this season, which may explain why he appears to be leaving RB Salzburg for RB Leipzig. The chance to play regular first team football in the Bundesliga may be too good to turn down in terms of the player’s development.

According to reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano, a deal is now close for Sesko to sign for RB Leipzig next summer. This means Sesko could spend another season in the Austrian Bundesliga before eventually moving to Germany.

Sesko already has 2 goals in 3 appearances for Salzburg this season.

Romano adds that Sesko could sign a contract until 2028 at Leipzig.

It remains to be seen if missing out on Sesko this summer will come back to haunt United in the future.
