Tom Huddlestone reacts to signing for Manchester United

Earlier this week, Manchester United announced that former England midfielder Tom Huddlestone had joined the club’s Academy setup in a playing-and-coaching capacity.

The 35-year-old joins United’s Professional Development Phase, aiding the rise of youngsters between the ages of 17 and 23. Huddlestone joins the club as a playing coach following his release from Hull City earlier this summer.

Huddlestone’s role at the club was occupied by Paul McShane last season, another former Hull star, and the club says that capacity proved to add ‘significant performance and development benefits’ last year.

Now, the former Tottenham Hotspur star has reacted to the news on his social channels, as seen below.

“Over the moon to announce I have been given the opportunity at this amazing football club to help coach and develop the next generation of talent coming through the system. Grateful and honoured, now time to give back to the younger generation,” Huddlestone said on Twitter.

Huddlestone made four appearances for England and has registered over 240 appearances in the Premier League over his long career.
