(Video) Man Utd loanee says he deserves World Cup call-up based on ability

Manchester United loanee Dean Henderson has made headlines this week after previewing his season with Nottingham Forest, having joined Steve Cooper’s side earlier this summer on a season-long loan.

The 25-year-old was critical of United for failing to live up to their promise of first-team minutes last season and is now eyeing a place in Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad later this year.

Henderson was included in the 26-man squad which reached the final of last summer’s European Championship but has not been called up since. Now, he has insisted that he deserves to be on the plane to Qatar in November, as seen below.

“It’ll be amazing,” he told talkSPORT when asked about the prospect of joining the England squad in Qatar. “I think I deserve to be there. Ability-wise, I should be there. Obviously, I’ve got to be doing it week in and week out and I know that

“It’s been a frustrating 12 months but hopefully I can be back involved in his (Southgate) plans soon.”

Henderson’s current deal at United runs for another three years and the club has an option to extend that agreement for an additional summer.

An impressive season with Nottingham Forest could mean that United look to cash in on the shot-stopper next summer, with Ten Hag seemingly content with David de Gea thus far.
