(Video) Christian Eriksen reacts to ‘very different’ Old Trafford debut

The scene of Manchester United’s final friendly of the summer was the opportunity for supporters to see two new stars in action at Old Trafford for the first time, with Lisandro Martinez and Christian Eriksen both making their home bows.

Eriksen has featured against United at the Theatre of Dreams on several occasions and for three different clubs but now, he has admitted that playing for the Reds was ‘very different’.

“Very different,” Eriksen told the official Manchester United YouTube channel when asked what it was like walking out at Old Trafford.

“When walking into the stadium, I had to go right instead of left! It was special, it was a nice feeling. It’s always been a nice stadium and also to wear the home shirt is a new feeling I need to get used to.

“Like you say, you have a home stadium, home fans. Of course, it was a pre-season game, it might be different people against Brighton but no, it felt good. People were vey welcoming and I had a good feeling.

“The group has taken good care of me. I haven’t had many sessions with the team. Obviously, they’ve been on tour, they played a game. I played a game to get some minutes in my legs,” he continued.

After featuring and impressing in both friendlies this weekend, Eriksen could fancy his chances of starting next week’s Premier League curtain-raiser against Brighton.

The only concern Erik ten Hag would have is whether he is fit enough after missing pre-season but on this weekend’s showing, the Dane is ready to get back amongst it.

Against Vallecano and Atletico Madrid, Eriksen featured alongside another attacking midfielder rather than in front of two players. That could hint that Ten Hag is planning on using both Bruno Fernandes and Christian Eriksen.
