Following the 1-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid on Saturday, Erik ten Hag confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo will get some minutes under his belt against Rayo Vallecano.

The 37-year-old only returned to training this week after missing the pre-season tour in Thailand and Australia.

As quoted by the Manchester Evening News, Ten Hag said: “I cannot tell in this moment [how fit Ronaldo is].

“He is not on the level of the rest of the squad because he missed a lot of weeks.

“But he needs games and he needs training, a lot.”

It remains to be seen if Ronaldo has a future at United because there has been constant suggestions from his agent that he wishes to leave Old Trafford for a second time in his career.

Best of luck finding a buyer!
