Manchester United starlet among final 3 candidates for 2022 Young African Player of the Year award

Manchester United youngster Hannibal Mejbri has made the final three candidates for the 2022 CAF Young Player of the Year award.

The 19-year-old impressed with Tunisia this year and he is expected to be part of their World Cup squad in Qatar later this year, which should be a fantastic experience for the United academy graduate.

Tunisia will take on Denmark, Australia and France in Group D in Qatar.

When it comes to the 2022 CAF Young Player of the Year award, Hannibal is up against Karim Konate from Ivory Coast and Pape Matar Sarr from Senegal in the final three after the list of candidates was narrowed down.

Hannibal has not been getting much of a look in on pre-season tour, but he has got some minutes and could be sent on loan next season. The club will be monitoring his development on the international stage and it may be a good time to try find him a team where he will get regular first-team minutes.

Finding the right loan move isn’t easy as we know thanks to hindsight. Just last season, Amad Diallo and Facundo Pellistri struggled for game time after moving to different leagues.

The grass isn’t always greener, but it is a risk worth taking with a lot of these potential stars.
