For starters, as one of Harry Maguire’s biggest critics last season, I hope our skipper proves his doubters wrong this season. Even if that includes myself.
The abuse he gets is a joke. You see it time and time again on social media, but it was pathetic earlier today when fans at the game in Melbourne booed Maguire whenever he touched the ball.
Call me old fashioned (I’m waiting for it!) but regardless of what you think of Harry Maguire a supporter does NOT boo him before or during the game.
People say they want what’s best for the team.
Explain to me how the f*** booing players achieves that? ✊🏻💦— SavArea51 (@jonmikesav8) July 19, 2022
Maguire didn’t let the booing get to him and you could hear claps after some of his best moments in the game. You could tell he wasn’t fazed by it and you would expect that sort of reaction from your typical United captain.
Moreover, he has excellent at centre-back and made a number of important headers and started a range of attacking transitions, which is what Erik ten Hag wants from his centre-backs.
Check out the short clip tomorrow to see Maguire’s highlights from the 3-1 win over Crystal Palace.
