Fabrizio Romano recommends two forwards for Manchester United to sign

It remains to be seen if Manchester United will sign a forward this summer but renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano certainly has his opinions on who we should sign.

Talk of Ajax winger Antony joining diminished as soon as the Eredivisie champions priced him out of a move, though they could change their stance before headline, especially if the player makes it clear he wants to leave.

Anyhow, with speculation slowing down when it comes to Antony, we haven’t seen other forwards linked with a move to Old Trafford – bar the odd Brian Brobbey report from the Daily Mail.

Fabrizio Romano explains that United looked at strikers earlier this summer in his latest CaughtOffside Substack (£) column. He also recommends two forwards he’d signing if he oversaw the club’s recruitment process.

“My understanding earlier in the summer was that Man United would 100% be in the market for a new central striker,” Romano claims. “They had an interest in Darwin Nunez before he went to Liverpool, but were unsure about the price.

“Since then, it’s certainly the case that the situation of Cristiano Ronaldo has surprised and slowed down Manchester United’s move of the new striker.

“If I were in charge of recruitment at Old Trafford, I feel a player like Paulo Dybala is an incredible free agent opportunity for all the top clubs in the world.

“If I had to invest in a younger player, I personally love Lille’s Jonathan David as a talent, and I would try this move.”

As for Romano’s recommendations, I can’t say I would be excited by either of them. Dybala is not the type of player we should be signing this summer – unless Ten Hag sees him as the ideal false nine — and David still seems very raw.

United have made three signings so far this summer. Tyrell Malacia joins from Feyenoord, Christian Eriksen arrives as a free agent, and we’ve finally got Lisandro Martinez from Ajax.

Hopefully, Frenkie de Jong follows from Barcelona. That would be the icing on the cake – as long as he wants to play for United!

  1. Spoken like someone that has never watched David play. Leading scorer for Lille last season. Leading Concacaf scorer for Canadian men’s Olympic qualification.
Fast, good with both feet, and a team player.

  2. Seeing Danny Murphy is such a genius why doesn’t he come and manage United

He will know the best players to buy and the best positions to play them

He will win the quadruple each and every yeat

  3. If Ronald is leaving, we need to buy a striker , left winger to help Sancho, right back because Dalot is not good enough. Also Scoct is not good in his possion
