Ten Hag and Rashford looking forward to pre-season friendly vs Melbourne Victory

Manchester United take on Melbourne Victory in their second pre-season tour match. Erik ten Hag held a press conference alongside Marcus Rashford and spoke about the team’s upcoming A-League opponents.

The players arrived in Australia on Wednesday and manager Erik ten Hag was quick to lead a training session at the AAMI Park stadium in Melbourne.

On top of that, Ten Hag had to address the media ahead of the match.

So, taking all of that into account, everyone on the tour must be shattered from all the travelling and intense training sessions with the new manager. That might show on Friday, but Ten Hag is at least happy with the A-League opposition at hand.

“We are happy with that game because it is a different opposition and it is always good to play against a different culture,” Ten Hag said, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News.

“It will be a different approach from against Liverpool, Villa and Palace. Melbourne are different. They are a good team and it will be a good test. We are looking forward to it.”

Marcus Rashford joined Ten Hag at the press conference and gave his thoughts on facing Melbourne this week, saying: “We spoke a little bit about it before and it is going to be a massive opportunity for us. Also, performing in front of fans that we don’t get the chance to during the season is exciting for us.”

I recently caught up with a Melbourne Victory fan to chat about their club, signing Nani and welcoming Manchester United to their city. It’s a game that will give some of the younger players a chance to impress – like Zidane Iqbal did in Bangkok against Liverpool – but we will also see some of United’s biggest stars in action.

One player I want to see on Friday is James Garner.
