Brentford look set to win race to sign former Lazio keeper linked with Old Trafford switch

Brentford look set to sign Manchester United linked goalkeeper target Thomas Strakosha.

The Albanian is currently available on a free transfer following his release from Serie A outfit Lazio when his contract expired last month.

A few days ago, talkSPORT suggested United were closing in on a deal to sign Strakosha, so something hasn’t quite gone to plan for whoever initially reported that.

Reliable transfer news journalist Fabrizio Romano now claims that Brentford look to have won the race to sign Strakosha. He even claims the keeper is having medical tests ahead of his move to the Premier League.

Romano tweeted: “Excl: Brentford FC are set to sign Thomas Strakosha on free transfer. It’s agreed and set to be completed with medical tests now ongoing, here we go.”

With Dean Henderson loaned out to Nottingham Forest, Tom Heaton looks set to be our second choice going into the new season. I wouldn’t be surprised if that changed as I’m sure United had Strakosha on a list on many options for that role.

I don’t care if we beat Brentford in the race to sign Christian Eriksen. That’s the one we don’t want to miss out on.

Not when we’re already struggling to get over deals across the line.
