Tyrell Malacia will wear No. 12 for Manchester United

New signing Tyrell Malacia will wear the No. 12 shirt on for the upcoming season.

The left-back joined from Feyenoord as Erik ten Hag’s first summer signing, with the Red Devils still actively working on deals to sign Christian Eriksen, Frenkie de Jong and Lisandro Martinez.

Malacia is set to compete for a place at left-back with Luke Shaw and it wouldn’t surprise us if he became a starter at some stage of the season. It depends on whether Shaw can get that complacency out of his game because there will be less room for that in Ten Hag’s side.

Fans will be excited to see Malacia in action for the first time and they won’t need to wait long, with the Netherlands international bound to feature in the first pre-season friendly against Liverpool next Tuesday.

Ten Hag’s named his 31-man squad for the pre-season tour before they left Manchester airport this evening.

While Malacia will wear 12 next season, Bruno Fernandes has also taken the No. 8 shirt following the departure of Juan Mata at the end of last season, as per the Manchester Evening News.

Meanwhile, Tyrell’s No. 12 was most recently worn by Chris Smalling.

Hopefully it does it justice.
