(Video) Harry Maguire captures record atmosphere ahead of Euro 2022 opener

England kicked off Euro 2022 at Old Trafford with a 1-0 win over Austria.

The Lionesses played host in front of a record-breaking crowd at a women’s European Championship game with over 68,000 fans in attendance to soak in the atmosphere.

Manchester United duo Harry Maguire and David de Gea were among them to show their support for the Euro 2022 campaign.

Maguire was obviously supporting the Lionesses, as a proud England international, although we can assume De Gea was also rooting for England since he now calls Manchester his home even when he’s back in Madrid for holidays.

After the match, Maguire took to Twitter with a video of the England team’s national anthem to show the incredible atmosphere at Old Trafford ahead of kick-off.

Maguire tweeted: “A winning start – What an atmosphere at Old Trafford. Well done @Lionesses @WEURO2020”

It certainly looked like a night to remember at the Theatre of Dreams.

United’s skipper also featured in a video posted by the official England Twitter account, which also includes messages of support from Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka and West Ham’s Declan Rice.

United will be going on pre-season tour later this week, so the players will miss the rest of the tournament.
