Everton offer Jesse Lingard opportunity to stay in North West

Reports suggest Everton are trying to sign Jesse Lingard on a free transfer following the midfielder’s departure from Manchester United.

It is believed that Frank Lampard views Lingard as a possible replacement for Richarlison, even though that would be considered a big downgrade elsewhere.

The Liverpool Echo claims that talks have already taken place and a move to Everton might appeal to Lingard as it would mean he can stay in the North West.

From United’s perspective, we don’t care where he ends up because we’ve got our own team to worry about as Erik ten Hag attempts to rebuild the squad.

The only part that annoys me is the fact we didn’t cash in a year ago.

Losing Lingard on a free is one thing, but the Paul Pogba situation is a complete farce.

The Frenchman will probably go down as the worst transfers in the club’s history.

Hopefully, in the coming years, United can make significant improvements when it comes to dealing with contracts and selling players. A big task for John Murtough.

SN’s Verdict

Lingard will be looking to prove a point no matter where he ends up next season.

After already pulling up tress at West Ham, I can understand why he would go back to work with David Moyes, but Lingard has always liked being close to home which is something that could swing in Everton’s favour.

If Lampard plays his cards right.
