Feyenoord set for Man United talks over 22-year-old fringe player

Manchester United have positioned themselves as front runners to sign Feyenoord full-back Tyrell Malacia.

The Red Devils, now managed by former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag, are believed to be close to finalising a £13m (€15m) deal that would see Malacia become the club’s first summer signing.

However, as one player prepares to arrive, another could be set to go the other way.

That’s according to a recent report from 1908.nl, who claim United winger Taith Chong is wanted in return by the 15-time Eredivisie champions.

After being promoted to the club’s senior first team in 2019, Chong, 22, has failed to nail a place down and has consequently experienced a string of loan moves, including spending last season at Championship side Birmingham City.

The 22-year-old is currently valued at just over £3m on Transfermarkt and with his deal set to expire next summer, it is very unlikely that fans will see Chong in action for their club again – especially if talks with Feyenoord prove to be positive.

Since making his senior United debut three years ago, the young Dutch attacker has gone on to feature in 16 matches, in all competitions, directly contributing to just two goals along the way.
