West Ham in talks over a reunion with Jesse Lingard

West Ham are believed to be closing in on a deal to sign Jesse Lingard.

The Hammers are trying to lure Lingard back to the London Stadium with him set to become a free agent from the end of next week.

Lingard impressed in the 16 matches he played in under David Moyes whilst on loan at West Ham in 2021. He scored nine goals and helped them qualify for the Europa League.

The Daily Mail understands that West Ham are making a new offer for the 29-year-old.

This all begs the question: why didn’t United cash in on Lingard a year ago and make some money back? He hardly played last season and it will go down as a waste of time for both parties.

With Lingard set to leave his boyhood club, the midfielder is looking to revive his career to get back into the England squad for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.

Moyes will hope that Lingard can give his side the same lift next season after narrowly missing out on a place in the Europa League at their last attempt.

His time to leave Old Trafford came a long time ago.
