Manchester United respond to Ronaldo exit claims

Manchester United stress Cristiano Ronaldo is not for sale.

There have been several reports linking Ronaldo with a move away from Manchester United in the past 24 hours.

The latest links to Chelsea have been downplayed in a recent report by CaughtOffside, with the London side not interested in signing the 37-year-old following claims from The Athletic that Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes met with new Chelsea owner Todd Boehly.

As a result, we’ve got people at Old Trafford are speaking to members of the mainstream media, giving the club’s version of events.

“Cristiano is not for sale,” a source told The Mirror. “We want – and fully expect – him to be with us next season.”

Ronaldo returned to United 12 months ago and has one year left on his contract.

It would be a huge problem for Erik ten Hag if his main goalscorer suddenly decided to leave the club because the club did not plan for his exit this summer. How could they go into a new campaign without a centre-forward?

On another note, I can’t see where that potential buyer is going to come from unless Mendes can persuade Paris Saint-Germain to make an offer.

  1. What’s to stop Ronaldo retiring? Okay if he want to play in the next World cup he can’t but he can walk away. And to be honest if I was Ten Hag I would walk. United have been so unprofessional, indecisive and actually amateurs in how they act why should any professional stick around

  2. Why would Ronaldo want to stay with this version of Man U clowns…. his fellow strikers are crap. Sancho and Rashford… overrated. Elanga pffftt amd there will be no new signings as potential players want champions league too…. seriously Ronaldo should be allowed to leave and not held back like a hostage. If he wants out let him. Many cannot provide anything good for him
