Lyon close in on €15m deal to sign United linked Tyrell Malacia

It looks like Lyon remain front of the queue to sign Manchester United linked Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord.

As another Dutch player linked with a move to Old Trafford, we can only take a wild guess that the apparent recommendation came from new manager Erik ten Hag, who has already given his list of targets to Manchester United.

The Mirror previously suggested that Ten Hag could turn his attentions to the Netherlands starlet but left-back isn’t a priority position for United this summer.

That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be looking to strengthen the area and it could be a good move to get someone in on the cheap, especially if he’s rated by the manager.

Malacia is a promising left-back, aged 22, who has already been capped with the Netherlands national side.

However, it appears he could be set to move to Lyon with the French side closing in on a €15m deal.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who claims Malcia wants to work under Dutch coach Peter Bosz, despite interest from an “English club”.

SN’s verdict

Is this another missed opportunity for United?

Not necessarily because if they wanted to push the boat out for Malcia they could.

It’s a small deal and allowing it to happen tells me United have other targets in mind.
