Gary Neville hits back at ‘Mayor of Manchester’ dig from former Crystal Palace chairman

If you are not aware of Simon Jordan on talkSPORT, the former Crystal Palace chairman features regularly on the radio station’s football talk shows and is not short of an opinion.

Jordan didn’t appreciate it when Gary Neville took issue with the Glazer family’s plans to take further dividends out of Manchester United – something that fans have been particularly vocal about in the past.

You look at United – the team, stadium and training facilities – and it needs investment. The club is not making the same money it made 5 years ago and it always sounds like we are cutting corners in the transfer window.

Neville tweeted: “The Glazer Family should NOT be taking £11m in dividends this Friday. It isn’t right with the investment needed in the team, stadium and training ground. The clubs cash position is low compared to previous years. An announcement is needed to halt it for the next 3 years minimum.”

However, Jordan claims this is just an attempt from Neville to feed his following. He told talkSPORT: “So he’s a balance sheet analyst now is he?

“I think you can point it out if you want to. What are you pointing it out for? You’re doing so because you know its currency, you know its juice for you. Mayor of Manchester.”

Neville saw the clip via Twitter and responded: “He doesn’t really know Manchester United’s current financial predicament does he?”

The answer to that, of course, is, no. He doesn’t.

I’m beginning the wonder if Jordan and Katie Hopkins are friends?
