Man Utd optimistic that €60m-valued star will come good – report

Marcus Rashford is one of the players at Manchester United desperate for a fresh start under Erik ten Hag. Rashford grew increasingly frustrated during the 2021/22 season and has just one year remaining on his current deal.

Rashford scored just four goals last season as he battled with overcoming two injuries that followed him for most of the previous one.

The 24-year-old missed the first two months of the season after undergoing shoulder surgery following the European Championship. He also had damage to his ankle ligaments for several months prior to that.

All of that culminated in a difficult season – his most challenging in a red shirt – but the club is now optimistic that he could enjoy a resurgence under the new manager.

That’s according to the Manchester Evening News, who say that the winger is ‘raring to go’ as preparations for the new campaign get closer.

SN’s verdict…
Rashford’s qualities are undeniable. When fit, he’s a fearless attacker and there are not many wingers in the same class. The 2019/20 and 2020/21 season, Rashford reached 20+ goals and double figures in assists in both seasons.

That’s the kind of form United are desperate to capture once again and having lost his place at United and England, he will be keen to prove the doubters wrong.

Statistical website Transfermarkt value the player at a whopping €60m and 12 months ago, that would have been seen as a stingy valuation.

Rashford is part of the first group back at United this summer, with non-international players due back on Monday as Ten Hag assesses his squad for the first time. The extra time with his new boss will do him the world of good.
