Lionel Messi impressed by Man Utd youngster as Erik ten Hag lays out plan

Manchester United youngster Alejandro Garnacho has enjoyed a rapid rise to stardom in 2022, with his efforts for the academy sides earning him a first-team debut in April.

The 17-year-old became one of the youngest players to feature for the club when he made his debut against Chelsea and boosted his stocks, even more, the next month by scoring twice in the FA Youth Cup final.

Furthermore, he was called up to Argentina’s senior squad earlier this year and trained with the likes of Lionel Messi, Angel di Maria and Lautaro Martinez.

Garnacho is believed to have left his mark during the two-week camp as Messi is said to have been impressed by the fearless winger. That’s according to The Mirror, who add that Garnacho’s confidence and ability stood out when he trained with the seniors.

Furthermore, it’s claimed that Erik ten Hag has laid out a plan for the former Atletico Madrid youngster, with the Dutchman set to fast-track his United career.

As per the report, Ten Hag is already planning to give Garnacho a much bigger role next season. The club has reportedly set their new manager up with an MUTV subscription and although he was keen on assessing the Under 18’s, he was mainly focused on Garnacho.

SN’s verdict…
A creative spark and fearless players are exactly what United supporters are desperate to see and they would be happy to see Garnacho given a chance to impress at senior level.

As things stand, it’s hard to argue against Garnacho being offered a prolonged stay in the side, even if that’s just a permanent place in the training schedule at this point.

Garnacho is expected to be named in Ten Hag’s pre-season squad later this month and the youngster will be keen to leave a lasting impression with his new manager.
