Sevilla prepare bid for AS Monaco defender on Manchester United’s radar

Manchester United have been linked with a summer move for 21-year-old defender Benoit Badiashile.

The AS Monaco defender has impressed in Ligue 1 over the past two seasons and has featured regularly in the gossip columns, with links to a number of Premier League clubs.

According to L’Equipe (H/t Sport Witness), United are keeping tabs on the French defender, who joins a long list of centre-backs linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer.

However, RMC Sport claim Sevilla are preparing an offer and will be keen to boast about having secured Champions League football ahead of next season.

The same can’t be said about United, although it remains to be seen if our interest is as strong as some reports suggest.

As seen with Darwin Nunez ahead of the Uruguayan’s move from Benfica to Liverpool, United get linked to many players but that doesn’t mean they will make offers for those players.

Even though it seems like United leave everything until the last minute, the club has people that meet with agents all year round – to discuss a number of matters, including potential transfers and contracts.

SN’s verdict

New manager Erik ten Hag is keen to strengthen his defence ahead of the new season.

That could be bad news for Harry Maguire, but something needs to be done about our defence and the England international is likely to get games unless Raphael Varane can learn to avoid injuries whilst playing for France.

While Badiashile appears to be on United’s radar, I reckon Ten Hag has preferred targets like Jurrien Timber and Pau Torres.
