Manchester United send warning to Barcelona amid talks over De Jong

We’ve brought you an array of updates on Manchester United’s pursuit of Frenkie de Jong over the past 24 hours.

This time it’s from Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

It is claimed that United are still in talks with Barcelona over a deal for the 25-year-old midfield.

Sheth tweeted: “Manchester United remain in talks with Barcelona over Frenkie de J0ng. Difference in valuation but player thought to be more open to move. United looking at other midfielders and will walk away if they can’t get reasonable price.”

He adds something a little different to his claims by suggesting United are looking at other midfielder and will walk away if they can’t agree on a reasonable price with Barcelona.

This backs up previous reports that United would not be held to ransom over a deal for De Jong.

Moreover, this is not the first report to suggest De Jong is happy to join Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.

It’s important to note how Barcelona view De Jong as one of the players they can sell this summer in order to help them sign new players. With that in mind, take a look around the football world and think about the clubs interested in paying the same money for Netherlands international? It seems like a one-horse race for the Red Devils but with some way to go until a deal is completed.

United can’t afford to appear desperate in the transfer window or else Ten Hag will struggle to get the players he wants.

They need to spend the transfer kitty money wisely this summer.
