Manchester United send warning to Barcelona amid talks over De Jong

We’ve brought you an array of updates on Manchester United’s pursuit of Frenkie de Jong over the past 24 hours.

This time it’s from Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

It is claimed that United are still in talks with Barcelona over a deal for the 25-year-old midfield.

Sheth tweeted: “Manchester United remain in talks with Barcelona over Frenkie de J0ng. Difference in valuation but player thought to be more open to move. United looking at other midfielders and will walk away if they can’t get reasonable price.”

He adds something a little different to his claims by suggesting United are looking at other midfielder and will walk away if they can’t agree on a reasonable price with Barcelona.

This backs up previous reports that United would not be held to ransom over a deal for De Jong.

Moreover, this is not the first report to suggest De Jong is happy to join Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.

It’s important to note how Barcelona view De Jong as one of the players they can sell this summer in order to help them sign new players. With that in mind, take a look around the football world and think about the clubs interested in paying the same money for Netherlands international? It seems like a one-horse race for the Red Devils but with some way to go until a deal is completed.

United can’t afford to appear desperate in the transfer window or else Ten Hag will struggle to get the players he wants.

They need to spend the transfer kitty money wisely this summer.

  1. Laporta should hold out for 100m. Let see who is more desperate. Barca? MU? FDJ? Laporta? Xavi? ETH? Let see if Barca are more desperate to save their financial problem or MU are more desperate to return to their glory days. Laporta must hold out for 100m becos MU will pay that money. MU and their fans are at a desperate level which u cant imagine. That is why they created so many news to help their club. No other clubs want to buy FDJ? If MU pull out, i bet MC and PSG will be the first to knock the door. Let play super hardball with the commercial club.

    1. LMAO, no one else will come close to what united are offering 🤣. Pathetic clubs which can’t manage finances should be relegated to the bottom tiers 😜

  2. Man-United keep Pogba for what? A player who out rightly became a virus with in the sqaud. Pogba was negativity personified. He had no passion for the club and his actions, playing pattern were below the standards of the club, he was never a good signing!!
