(Video) Erik ten Hag greets journalists ahead of his first Manchester United press conference

Erik ten Hag took a moment to greet journalists ahead of his first press conference as Manchester United manager.

The club unveiled Ten Hag as the new manager on Monday and he wasted no time getting to know the MUFC hacks. Over time he will learn more about them individually, but right now everyone is on the same page.

Samuel Luckhurst described this gesture from Ten Hag was “unexpected” as the Dutchman shook hands with the nearest journalists sitting in the front row, as per the Manchester Evening News.

Club staff told reporters to sit in the first row and now they know why.

Ten Hag will be warned about the British press in advance and he is already getting to know Sky Sports reporter Gary Cotterill.

Luckhurst adds: “To those sat further back, Ten Hag offered a wave and repeatedly assured it was ‘nice to meet you all’. United could not wait to draw a line under the chastening season and will hope Ten Hag’s sunny exterior ushers in an era of positivity.”

Ten Hag was very quick to the point with his answers on Monday and it was clear from how he spoke that he has clear ideas about how he wants his team to play football.

Let’s hope everything starts to click into place next season.
