Ronaldo to start: predicted line-up for Ralf Rangnick’s final Man Utd game

Manchester United are back in action for one final time this season on Sunday, with Ralf Rangnick and his side making the short trip to Selhurst Park.

Crystal Palace, who have enjoyed an impressive season under Patrick Vieira, are on the opposing side but regardless of the result, United will end the campaign with their worst-ever point tally in the Premier League era.

Rangnick has overseen a troublesome six months since he was appointed interim manager in December last year but with Erik ten Hag expected to be in attendance, players could have added motivation to end the season on a high note.

Ahead of the 90-minute affair, Rangnick confirmed that several players remain doubtful, with Jadon Sancho and Phil Jones among those to not finish their final group session.

Marcus Rashford has not featured since last month’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea and Luke Shaw’s last appearance came over two months ago, casting doubts over whether they will partake in the final game of the season.

Juan Mata has started the last two games and could be handed another start to potentially say his farewells, with the Spaniard expected to leave on a free transfer this summer.

There is little clarity on Paul Pogba’s fitness – the Frenchman has not played since last month’s 4-0 defeat to Liverpool and according to reports in Italy, he has agreed to sign for Juventus on a three-year deal.

Cristiano Ronaldo is a given in the side and one more goal would put him at 25 for the season overall, with a brace placing him at 20 Premier League goals.

Predicted Manchester United line-up (4-2-3-1): De Gea; Dalot, Varane, Lindelof, Telles; McTominay, Fred; Elanga, Fernandes, Mata; Ronaldo
